Last spring, Discraft presents The Open at Belton added several competition bonuses in various categories. We do this every year to get a few extra bucks into players hands, but mostly just for the fun of it. One was the DGPT Silver Series Bonus.
Silver Series Bonus
The Open at Belton was the first DGPT Silver Series event of 2021 (as it will be again in 2022) and one of the bonuses offered was for the player with the best cumulative score to par who competed in all Silver Series events. The bonus was offered for both the MPO and FPO divisions. No FPO players participated in all of last year’s Silver Series tournaments, and only two MPO players accomplished the feat. Luke Samson, of Mundelein, Illinois finished -95 and Austin’s own ironman, Connor O’Reilly, took it down with a cumulative -121 over the seven events.
Connor was unaware of the bonus and only coincidentally played in all the events to make him eligible. The Open DGC amount was $150 and the DGPT kicked in another $150 making the bonus a total of $300.
“That’s awesome!” Connor messaged, “I appreciate the honor, it’s about more than the money”. We agree. Way to go, Connor, and congrats from The Open and the DGPT! Good luck on tour in 2022 and we’ll see you again at The Open.
Catch Connor, Ricky, Paul, Catrina and top players from all over the world in person at Heritage Park in Belton, TX, March 18-21.
